HICKORY, NC, July 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Every year, more than 240 tons of eWaste are discarded globally, with the United States contributing an average of 2.3 billion pounds. And while eWaste only represents a small two percent of America's trash in landfills, it equals 70 percent of overall toxic waste. EZ Computer Recycling Centers (EZ) has set out to transform the way consumers, corporations and government think about disposing of unwanted electronics, providing a safe and secure eWaste recycling location in Hickory, NC and opening locations nationwide throughout the next 18 months. By taking the guesswork out of discarding old electronics, EZ gives all types of people and organizations a way to insure safe destruction of eWaste and assures them that their personal information will be destroyed.
EZ Computer Recycling Centers is the answer to a longstanding problem - what do I do with my eWaste? What is the best way to safely and securely discard an old laptop or cell phone? Now, companies, government and consumers can get rid of their electronics and also witness their immediate destruction. For a small fee, a certificate of authentication is issued that insures all information stored on their electronic devices has been safely destroyed, without negatively impacting landfills. Of the 240 million tons of eWaste estimated annually, only 10 percent are recycled or reused. Of that small percent, most eWaste is shipped to developing countries that are unknowledgeable about how to dispose of eWaste or the environmental impact it creates. EZ recycles all eWaste domestically, meeting local, state and federal government regulations for safe eWaste destruction, and is committed to educating the public about the importance of recycling eWaste safely and securely.
"The statistics make it clear that eWaste is a serious global problem, and with the rapid growth rate of technology, it is one that is not going away anytime soon," states Bob LaBarge, senior vice president of EZ Computer Recycling Centers. "We are not offering another 'green' product, but rather a solution: eWaste recycling made easy. It is really that simple."
Located in the former Ciabola Manufacturing Co. warehouse near downtown Hickory, the building has undergone major renovations and will be operational by the end of summer. On-site destruction services for businesses and government will be available beginning August 15th. EZ looks to hire 35 full-time employees upon opening with plans to expand to 100 employees within the first year of operation.
