FULLERTON, CA, July 26, 2012
California State University Fullerton's Mihaylo College of Business and Economics today announced that its Family Business Council now will be officially recognized as the Center for Family Business. The rebranded Council is now aligned with Mihaylo's 13 other Centers of Excellence that focus on specific areas of interest and are an integral part of the business school's practical approach to education. All of the Centers address a variety of needs and issues in the community, providing an array of services to local business and government sectors and presenting Mihaylo College students with academic and real-world learning environments.
Serving family-owned businesses in Southern California since 1995, the Center for Family Business (CFB) helps serve as a catalyst for economic and employment growth in the region. "With more than one million family-owned businesses driving the economy in the state of California, the need for an educational resource to enable family entities to grow and prosper has never been greater," said Center for Family Business Director Ed Hart.
The Center provides a comfortable environment with monthly workshops aimed at addressing issues that are unique to family-run companies. A recent workshop featured Wing Lam, co-founder of Wahoo's Fish Taco, who spoke on how investing in the community benefits business. "Speakers like Wing Lam really open the door for today's family business leaders to think outside the box and grow their companies to the next level with a philanthropic purpose," said Hart.
Mihaylo College's Center for Family Business enables members to have direct access to educational resources and networking opportunities with other family business leaders who have shared interests. Mihaylo College is recognized as the largest accredited business school on the West Coast.
