Thinkso Creative Kicks Off Give a Brand!, a Contest to Award One Nonprofit a Free Brand Makeover

2012-07-30
NEW YORK, NY, July 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) Thinkso announces the launch of Give a Brand!, a design sprint in which Thinkso will completely rebrand one small nonprofit, free of charge, in a single 12-hour day. The general public is asked to vote on which charity to rebrand at thinkso.com/giveabrand. The poll is open until August 10, 2012.

When the owners and staff of Thinkso, a branding and marketing firm based in NYC, set out to do some good in their community, they quickly decided against painting local schools or running a 5k. Instead they are using their skills and resources to give one nonprofit a total brand makeover—with a twist.

Staying true to their mantra of having fun and pushing boundaries, Thinkso turned the project into something that could be termed "extreme branding". On Thursday, August 16, 2012, Thinkso's entire staff and several co-sponsors will kick off a day of intense work that will culminate in the delivery of a high quality brand identity, marketing materials and fully functioning website. "We tend to make everything we do as much fun and as intense as possible. It's kind of a go big or go home approach," said Brett Traylor, partner.

A strong identity and compelling website are essential tools for modern nonprofit organizations. These legitimize a charity, showing supporters that it is committed, trustworthy and smart, which in turn boosts donations and funding. But most nonprofits—especially small, local ones—have no resources to invest in branding. "It's a way to give back that keeps on giving back," said Elizabeth Amorose, partner. "We're motivated to do a great job knowing that what we create for this nonprofit will help them generate support and funding."

Give a Brand! co-sponsors include the following companies: Matthew Septimus Photography, Finlay, Premiernyc.com, and Skillcrush.

Anyone will be able to watch this creative race in action via a live online stream.

Exclusive coverage will be available for media representatives who plan to attend Give a Brand! in the Thinkso studio.
