Abalos & Associates To Participate In St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance Food Drive

RALEIGH, NC, August 02, 2012 (Press-News.org) Sandy Abalos, managing partner of Abalos & Associates, PLLC (http://www.abaloscpa.com), has announced that the company will compete in the 14th annual Hill of Beans Food Drive competition, collecting food and funds through Wednesday, Aug. 31 for St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, noting the specific request for canned, dried or bagged beans due to their high nutrition density. This food drive is a competition in which local accountants and CPAs compete to collect the most beans and food for donation. Every pound of non-perishable food items counts as a "bean," while every dollar counts as seven pounds. The participant who collects the most beans or food per capita will be proclaimed the "Chief Bean Counter."

- St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance distributed more than 74 million pounds of food in Fiscal Year 2010-11 to meets the needs of the ever-rising number of Arizona's hungry, which is enough food to provide nearly 275,000 meals in the community per day.

- More than 140,000 "beans" were collected by 17 competing businesses in 2011.
