EMRapproved Announces HIPAA Security and Compliance Certification for Healthcare Professionals

Healthcare technology resource EMRapproved.com announces a new proficiency program for healthcare professionals looking to certify in HIPAA security and compliance.

2012-08-03
CHICAGO, IL, August 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Industry leading healthcare information technology (HIT) resource EMRapproved.com announced the launch of its newest certification in its 4MedPro Online HIT University Training Program—the HIPAA Security and Compliance Proficiency course. The certificate incorporates in-depth contextual content, video/audio review, detailed quizzes and exams for healthcare professionals.

Although it has received weak funding since its creation, HIPAA law enforcement has been recently strengthened by the Obama administration's Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009. This act increased audits and consequences for violations, as well as requiring certain breaches to be publicly disclosed.

The act also requires medical business associates to comply with HIPAA or face civil and criminal penalties, thus making HIPAA training critical to healthcare staff. Business Associates include any person or entity that performs certain functions or activities that involve the use or disclosure of protected health information on behalf of, or provides services to, an entity that is covered by HIPAA privacy rules.

EMRapproved has recognized the need for more comprehensive and accessible learning on this important topic and engaged industry experts to add this course to its growing list of Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) education.

"The EMRapproved 4MedPro HIPAA course is comprehensive and informative," stated Scott Barlow, Vice President of Sales at Reflexion Networks, a provider of the Reflexion Compliance Suite . "The training is something that we feel would be of benefit to our partners targeting healthcare clients, and look forward to helping our partners gain access to this training."

The EMRapproved Certification program empowers information technology professionals to better understand the needs of the medical community. Hospitals, physician practices and any healthcare provider in need of assistance with their electronic medical records or HIT technology can schedule services from a 4Med+ certified team, search the nationwide HIT consultant list on EMRapproved.com or call the toll-free assistance line at (800) 671-1028.
