WYOMING, MI, August 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) Injured on a Friday night? Metro Health's sports medicine team will see you on Saturday morning.
Metro Health is bringing back its popular Saturday morning service starting Aug. 11. Sports medicine physicians will see student athletes and other weekend warriors who have been injured each Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the Spartan Stores YMCA on the Metro Health campus in Wyoming. No appointments are necessary, but will be accepted.
"Student-athletes who may be injured during a Friday night game or Saturday morning practice shouldn't have to wait until Monday to see a doctor," said Dr. Edwin Kornoelje, a sports medicine physician at Metro Health. "We launched our Saturday morning service last year and had great response from parents, students and other weekend athletes.
"The service is a great opportunity to be seen by a knowledgeable sports medicine physician and have your issue taken care of quickly. Whether it's a pulled hamstring, bruised shoulder or something more serious, Metro Health's sports medicine team is there for you and your family on Saturday."
Kornoelje leads a team of physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists who provide medical support to professional sports team, collegiate athletic teams and high school teams in the greater Grand Rapids area each year. Metro Health's sports medicine team also volunteers its service to support approximately 25 races and community events each year, from small 5K runs to the internationally acclaimed Fifth Third River Bank Run, which draws more than 20,000 walkers and runners.
For more information on the Saturday clinic, call 616.252.7778.
