ROME, ITALY, October 05, 2010 (Press-News.org) Giovanni Barracco Collector and Patriot is a great opportunity for travellers staying in 5 star hotels in Rome to find out more about a famous figure in Italy's history.
The collection will be on show at the museum that bears his name - Museo Barracco - until January 9th 2011 and showcases the man's love for collecting art and archaeological finds, particularly of Egyptian origin.
According to the venue, Barracco came from a rich family of landowners and went on to become a senator in Italy's first parliament, as well as one of its best known collectors.
"In his youth, which he spent between Calabria and Naples, Barracco studied classics and was imbued with a deep sense of patriotism that exposed him to the ideals of the Risorgimento," added the organisers.
Tourists who head down to this exhibition can enjoy the fruits of the great man's hard work, with one piece in particular standing out as a highlight - a sculpture of the head of Pharaoh Seti.
Visitors can enter the Museo Barracco between 09:00 and 19:00 local time from Tuesday to Sunday, with the complex closing on Mondays.
Recently, Catholic.net's Elizabeth Lev chose this exhibition as one of two great displays for people to see if they are interested in Rome's 140th anniversary of becoming the capital of Italy.
For more information on this event visit the Museo Barracco website or contact the venue on +39 066 880 6848.

U.S. DOT Regulation of Fluorescent Lamp Transportation: Part 1
2010-10-05
Federal transportation requirements promulgated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) provide packaging standards for fluorescent lamps (referred to in the regulations as "mercury vapor tubes"). Those regulations require that shipments of lamps be contained in packaging that prevents the escape of mercury.
In practice, however, those DOT packaging requirements will rarely, if ever, apply to packages of used mercury-containing lamps. Based on the rules and the mercury content of used lamps, the DOT standards only apply to packages containing more than 250 typical ...
Report: Many Stolen, Unrecovered Autos Lacked Insurance
2010-10-05
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) recently released its yearly report detailing the types of vehicles that were most frequently stolen in the past year, noting that a large percentage of those yet to be recovered are not protected by a car insurance policy. Nearly 100,000 vehicles were listed as stolen and not yet recovered as of August 2010, according to the NICB, and 62 percent of those lacked any type of coverage. And the reason for this may be the age of the types of cars that thieves take most often.
