Source Code Media Group Seeks Patent Protection For Novel Photo-Sharing Software and System

Source Code Media Group LLC has announced its appointment of Zies, Widerman and Malek to represent the company in pursuing patent protection for its novel photo-sharing software app and system invention, Pikigram.

2012-08-08
SACRAMENTO, CA, August 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) Camera-enabled handheld devices have made photographers out of their owners, and photo-sharing applications that easily integrate with social networks have become a hot space in the dynamic digital environment. Users of Facebook alone are uploading 250 million photos every day to the site.

"With the explosion in popularity of online and mobile photo-sharing social networks such as Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram, we recognized early on the unique potential of our concept - because it incorporates a powerful viral mechanism that is truly unique." says company Founder and President, Medo Eldin.

"Our software system incorporates several features which we believe will enable us to establish a dominant position in the online and mobile photo-sharing niche, and it is for this reason that we decided to pursue patent protection as a first step," he continued.

Mr. Gene Quinn, who is a law professor and a patent attorney with Zies, Widerman and Malek, explained the process being taken to secure the patent on behalf of Source Code Media Group:

"The approach we take to any patent project is to first attempt to determine what, if any, space is available for the inventor. We do this by mapping related patents and looking for what openings exist. After doing a patent search we believe there is broad space available, which will allow Mr. Eldin to file a foundational patent application that can support an entire patent portfolio."

Source Code Media Group, which is self-funded to date, is planning to initially launch its software system as a mobile app for the Apple iPhone and Android mobile devices, followed by tablet and desktop versions shortly thereafter. The company expects its Pikigram app to be available for download in the App Store and Android Market in the Fall of 2012.

Mr. Quinn, a recognized authority in the field of software patents and founder of industry website IPWatchdog.com, went on to say: "What makes Mr. Eldin's invention particularly interesting is that it is not just an improvement on what already exists, but rather it represents a paradigm shift. Every once in a while a logjam of innovation is broken when someone takes a large step forward. That is what Mr. Eldin has done and I can easily see his innovation being incorporated into a variety of established platforms, such as Facebook, Flickr, Pinterest and others."
