The Chef's Academy Hosts Fourth Annual Clash Of The Tailgaters Cooking Competition

Culinary Institution's Students, Local Restaurants To Battle For Culinary Supremacy On Sept. 14

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, August 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Chef's Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced that it will host its fourth annual Clash of the Tailgaters event on Friday, Sept. 14 at 644 E. Washington Street. Clash of the Tailgaters is an annual charity culinary showdown that features two divisions - student teams from The Chef's Academy's competing against one another, as well as local restaurant professionals facing off to determine the top tailgating talent in the area. Admission is a minimum $10 donation, with proceeds benefitting the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. Competitors will begin preparing their dishes at 7:30 a.m. and will have until 11 a.m. to finish their entries for evaluation by a local celebrity judge panel. The event will be open to the public from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. During this time, attendees may participate in a tasting and then vote for the people's choice award winner.

Thirty teams of The Chef's Academy's students and graduates, along with 10 restaurant teams, will compete in three divisions consisting of chicken-, beef- and pork-based dishes. The first wave of competing restaurants includes: 14 West, Iozzo's Garden of Italy, the School Nutrition Association, St. Elmo Steak House, and Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery. Sun King Brewery, a local brewing company, will sell beer during the event for $5 per beer, with $2 of each sale going directly to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.
