Sara International Travel Explains US Airways' Merger Campaign
Sara International Travel discusses what incentives would be provided to US Airways or American Airlines should a merger occur. Sara International Travel is a specialized travel company offering new options to travelers overseas.
NEW YORK, NY, August 21, 2012
Muslims traveling to Mecca to complete their Hajj and Umrah are faced with the important decision of choosing an airline. Sara International Travel provides pilgrims with travel arrangements and accommodations to reduce the stress of international travel. Because many families who contract Sara International Travel are from the United States and South America, the company seeks to explain the recent article in The Washington Post which discusses a possible merger between US Airways and American Airlines.Recent reports have suggested that American Airlines is seeking to merge with rival US Airways because the company is in financial crisis. American Airlines CEO, Tom Horton, denies these allegations. Horton suggests instead that US Airways' repeated attempts to combine the two airlines shows the financial desperation of the aforementioned US Airways. In an interview with The Associated Press, Horton said the financial pressure to merge was on US Airways more than American Airlines.
Horton suggests this financial burden may be due to US Airways' rising labor costs. In order to increase revenue to pay employees higher salaries, US Airways needs more international routes - which American Airlines has. Sara International Travel agrees that more international travel could generate more income for US Airways. "An increase in higher priced international tickets would be beneficial to US Airways who tends to have greater numbers of travelers focused on domestic travel," commented Sara International founder, Imam Zameer Sattaur, in a press release.
In November of 2011, AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines filed for bankruptcy. Former CEO of American, Gerard Arpey, stepped down and named Horton as his predecessor. Weeks later, the CEO of US Airlines began a public appeal to merge with American. Horton seems to be determined to keep American independent.
In a press statement, Sara International Travel asserts that there may be an incentive for Horton to publically squash any speculation of a merger with US Airways. By publicly calling to question the company's financial standings, Horton could impact US Airways' stock prices and reduce the price of a future merger with the company.
Horton stated at a Boston industry conference interview that a merger is not out of the question for American Airlines but just not at this time. There's no doubt that merging with US Airways would boost American's domestic presence and prove beneficial to them as well but for now plans of a merger remain only speculation.
Because the cost of international travel can range in price, Sara International Travel maintains several affiliate relationships to provide cost effective international travel. The organization provides an array of travel packages for any pilgrim making their Hajj. Sara International Travel hopes to reduce the stress of international travel by taking care of the accommodations for its travelers.
