Mikogo Releases HTML5 Screen Sharing for Faster Online Meetings

Faster, smoother screen sharing and more feature-packed, Mikogo has re-launched its award-winning HTML Viewer using the new HTML5 standard.

2012-08-23
LONDON, ENGLAND, August 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) A leader in online meeting technology, Mikogo has today announced the release of a major update to its award-winning HTML Viewer with the incorporation of the new HTML5 standard for Internet browsers into the software. The HTML Viewer is a 100% browser-based way for participants to join online meetings and this new release built on HTML5 technology provides users with faster screen sharing, several new features and is multi-lingual.

The Internet world is witnessing the dawn of a new era as the much-talked about HTML5 standard quickly makes its presence known and surpasses its predecessors. For Mikogo this has meant an opportunity to benefit from a growing trend and revolutionize online meetings for its customers. The result is a noticeable performance boost for its screen sharing with faster and smoother transmission of screen data during an online meeting.

"HTML5 is the new standard which will soon be included in all browsers in the future so it was imperative for us to adapt to this trend," explained Mark Zondler, Co-Founder of Mikogo. "By building our software on the HTML5 platform, we have prepared ourselves and have facilitated meetings for our customers as the widespread Internet movement towards HTML5 continues."

When first released, the HTML Viewer won a Best Innovations Award in Communications for offering an innovative product with substantial benefits to small and medium sized enterprises. Users of the HTML Viewer have since been impressed with its ease of use and lack of software or configurations - there are no downloads required and no ActiveX, Flash or Java. Participants join online meetings via any standard web browser, including mobile browsers on smartphones and tablets.

Today's new updated HTML Viewer takes this award-winning product further with the addition of features requested by the Mikogo user and customer base. The new features now available to all customers include the Mikogo participant pointer, zoom functionality, screen auto-fit option, and the software is available in English, German and French.

"For customers, the stand out new addition to the feature set is the participant pointer," Zondler said. "The inclusion of this feature in the HTML Viewer was specifically requested by customers so we're delighted to now provide it to them."

Participants can now select the new browser-based HTML Viewer option when joining an online meeting from the product website: http://www.mikogo.com
