TOWN OF THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ON, August 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) The summer months may be winding down but the action is jumping into full gear as Cedar Run Rodeo Weekend returns August 24-26, highlighted by three performances from the historic RCMP Musical Ride and produced by the award-winning Rawhide Rodeo Company.
"What sets this event apart from other rodeos is both the focus on kids and the quality of the performers," says Event Host and Rodeo Announcer Joe Scully. "This is an action-packed weekend that combines an extreme sport with fun-filled activities for everyone to enjoy, including the opportunity to get up close and personal with the famed RCMP thoroughbred horses and riders, as well as the likes of Shawn Minor, the most award-winning cowboy in international professional rodeo."
Festivities get under way on Friday evening with a country hoedown dinner and dance in downtown Thornbury. Don your Western garb and try your hand at line dancing as you mingle with the rodeo cowboys and cowgirls themselves.

· RCMP Muscial Ride - 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday; 2 p.m. on Sunday - A colourful Canadian tradition featuring 32 riders and horses performing cavalry drills choreographed to music. The stabling area will also be open so members of the public can mingle with the stunning thoroughbred horses and talented riders in person.

Also featured is an expanded Kid's Zone play area with jumping castles, gyro balls, face painting and more.
· Canadian Armed Forces Display - Members of the Land Force Central Area Training Centre in nearby Meaford will provide thrilling land vehicle rides and a chance to try the zip line, as well as the opportunity to see military armory firsthand.
· Live Entertainment - Evening performances by the Rockefellers (Saturday) and Georgian Bay's Southern Comfort (Sunday).
