DENVER, CO, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) On July 28th of this year, Dusty Showers set out on a journey, riding his bike cross country, wearing a pink bra to raise money for families that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. During the hottest months of the year, and without much preparation, Dusty decided that something had to be done about these families who need help. His answer was not to put on a car wash, but to do something extreme like ride his bike 2500 miles from Tampa to Los Angeles. For over 3 weeks now, Dusty has taken to the highway with his bike, a pink bra on and a goal in mind. He wants to raise $50,000.00 to help support families who have a loved one diagnosed with breast cancer. His methods of fundraising may be extreme, but so is breast cancer and doing ordinary things will not do. Dusty looks for extreme ways to bring attention to his charity called The2ndBasemen.org so he can deliver as much hope as possible to the families his charity serves.
Breast cancer is chaotic when it hits and it takes hold of families and throws them into a bit of a tail spin. Their lives change immediately and they are looking for answers and need to know that someone cares. Dusty and his charity is that someone as they are willing to sacrifice themselves for the cause. Dusty has taken 5 weeks out of his life to make this bike ride. He doesn't have to, but wants to for his charity and the families in need. It is an extraordinary gesture and his efforts are paying off.
As Dusty has visited towns along the way, the turnout is growing and the look on the faces of the men and women who have battled breast cancer show gratitude for what he is doing. Pink, studded bras have been auctioned off for up to $500.00 and people are making donations on his website (www.the2ndbasemen.org). The finish line is ahead and it is at Hooters: 321 Santa Monica Blvd Santa Monica, CA 90401 We have set the ETA as 3pm where Dusty will conclude his journey and celebrate what the organization has accomplished.
The2ndBasemen needs people to come out to Hooters and celebrate, donate, participate in the bra auctions, get signed autograph t-shirts and more. By donating to the2ndBasemen, you can rest assured that the majority of the money collected will be delivered straight to the families. One of the cool things about this journey with Dusty is that it has not been about the ride across the country. What the ride really is and has become is a story that has unfolded along the way. From riding a bike with one of the husbands who currently has breast cancer, to jumping off bridges to raising money selling pink studded bras for $500.00, the story being written is life changing and very interesting to say the least. Come and be a part of history with Dusty and meet him in Santa Monica.
Dusty Showers is riding his bike from Tampa to Los Angeles to help raise money for families who are battling breast cancer. He is wearing a pink bra and racing towards the finish line in Sana Monica California and we are asking you to bring your bras to the finish line and cheer on Dusty to complete what he has started. The2ndBasemen.org has a goal of $50,000.00 to raise for families and they need your help. Come be a part of this story of giving and bravery with Dusty and The2ndBasemen.org
