MEMPHIS, TN, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) The United States Army's 'What Makes You Strong' Event and Concert Series, featuring Drumma Boy, makes its second stop at the Memphis Convention Center, 255 North Main Street on Friday, August 31st, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are free to the public with registration at http://www.WhatMakesYouStrong.com.
'What Makes You Strong' events feature leadership seminars and state-of-the art technology at the Army Strong Zone interactive exhibit that includes the Strong Stage featuring a Confidence Course offering a three-tiered physical fitness challenge and the Strength to Soar Aviation Element featuring a flight simulator.
"The Army's goal for the 'What Makes You Strong' tour is to present viable career options to multicultural communities across the nation," said John C. Myers, Director of Marketing, Army Marketing and Research Group. "We are looking for the best and brightest young Americans to fill a wide range of leadership, high tech, science, engineering and educational careers available in today's Army."
Event activities will highlight the Army's education benefits, scholarship opportunities and more than 150 career options including music, technology, and healthcare. The tour's framework is based on the U.S. Army's values of selfless service, giving back to the community and dedication to our nation.
The U.S. Army is also one of the nation's largest providers of college scholarships, and in 2011 provided more than $230 million in ROTC scholarships, which included $100 million for HBCU students. The Army Research Laboratory HBCU/MI program has provided more than $19 million to HBCU students for research and other initiatives since 2009.
