SPANISH FORK, UT, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) When Taylor and Tanner Green started a new business in January 2011 to combat the economic recession, this venture might have raised a few eyebrows. But for two brothers, opening their own Five Star Painting (http://bit.ly/O2cujW) business was a challenge they looked forward to with excitement and enthusiasm.
Both brothers developed independent careers in the building industry. Tanner had worked during the boom years selling North Carolina coastal real estate and Taylor had work for Pella Windows and Milgard Windows in the Michigan market before he moved his family out of Michigan to evade the "terrible" economic conditions suffered by the entire state. Tanner explains that instead of simply waiting for the economy to come back, they decided there was no better time than the present to delve into an industry that thrives even in economic downturn: painting.
Taylor commented that, "Starting a business in this economy was a little scary but we knew with our backgrounds we had a few advantages. There is a lot of trust and security that comes with being in business with your family."
Taylor and Tanner knew each other's strengths and weaknesses. Both knew their experience in various aspects of home development would help them in working with their customers to improve their homes and businesses through painting. Taylor and Tanner even enlisted their father to help with the business, noting that he is one of their greatest inspirations. "Our parents believe we can do anything we want to do."
Many house painters are not great businessmen and having the many years of knowledge provided by the corporate Five Star Painting team gives the Greens' confidence. From website development to a 24-hour call center, the Greens have a full team behind them so the brothers can provide their customers with the best service possible.
At the end of 2011, the Five Star Franchise Group (http://bit.ly/PGbeop) awarded the Greens, at the time the owners of the Durham/ Chapel Hill market, the Start Up Franchise Of The Year Award.
This past January Tanner and Taylor elected to expand their business to include the Wilmington NC Territory and on August 1, 2012 purchased the Northeastern Raleigh Market. This allowed the Greens to double their territory in the greater Raleigh Durham area and become one of only a handful of Five Star Painting Franchise owners owning and operating three or more territories.
Scott Abbott, CEO of Five Star Franchising, expressed confidence in the Greens' ability to succeed in the business. "I'm excited to see Taylor and Tanner succeed in all the communities they service. They are smart and experienced, and have the strength of a family to help them. Their customers will benefit from that."
The Greens are providing the following painting services to the Durham (http://bit.ly/Nh2jf9) /Chapel Hill(http://bit.ly/P01eIo), Northeastern Raleigh(http://bit.ly/OwPF8L) and Wilmington NC (http://bit.ly/PCXXeC) communities:
• Residential interior and exterior painting
• Commercial interior and exterior painting
