2012-09-01
LOS ANGELES, CA, September 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Korean Cultural Center LA and Korea Tourism Organization LA are proud to present the US premiere of "2012 Korea in Motion - Dance Musical 'Sachoom'" at the Ford Amphitheatre on September 8, 2012 at 8pm. "Sachoom" is the popular Korean dance phenomenon that has been captivating audiences since its debut in 2004 with its nonverbal, ALL DANCE approach to telling the coming of age story of three brothers, Jun, Sun and Bin. The show is the follow-up to last year's electrifying KCCLA production, "Rhythm and Passion of Korea," which was nominated for a Los Angeles Area Emmy Award for its airing on KCET.

"Sachoom" will feature 14 of Korea's top up-and-coming dancers performing elaborate choreographed numbers over a pulsating soundtrack. The entire stage will be filled with movement as the story comes to life in this dance spectacular. The production will undoubtedly capture the hearts of American attendees (ages 7 and up) from all cultural backgrounds as it makes its way for the first time to the great melting pot of the West: Los Angeles. Integration of popular dance genres, including hip-hop, jazz, contemporary dance, break dancing and dynamic music, will allow audiences from all generations and cultural backgrounds to connect with the engaging yet simple storyline. Vibrant visuals and uplifting musical numbers seamlessly transcend language.

Since the first stage performance opened in 2004, "Sachoom" has had over 1,900 performances to date throughout Asia, Russia and England. It continues to gain tremendous popularity as it makes its way to new regions. The musical was also the first Korean production to perform at the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe (August 3-25, 2008) and garnered various international award nominations.

Be sure to experience the magic of "2012 Korea in Motion - Dance Musical 'Sachoom'" for yourself at the Ford Amphitheatre on September 8, 2012 at 8pm.

Ticket prices start at $20 and $10 for full-time students with ID and children 12 and under. Tickets are available at http://www.FordTheatres.org or 323 461-3673 (for non-visual media 323 GO 1- FORD). For groups of 8 or more, please call 323 769-2147.
