Verismo Opera Rolls Out New Initiative to Make Opera Affordable, Available to Public

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera is implementing a new initiative to make opera available and accessible to the public.

FORT LEE, NJ, September 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera (Verismo Opera) announces its new initiative to make opera available to more people. "We recognize these are difficult economic times for families, seniors and many others. Our goal is to make opera performances and productions accessible and affordable to more people through our new discount ticket initiative," said Lucine Amara, Artistic Director, Verismo Opera.

Special discount ticket offers are available on specific dates in September to see the company's production of Giacomo Puccini's opera, Madama Butterfly, on Sunday, October 7, 3:00 p.m., at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey.

Discounts Available Only in September

Verismo Opera is offering 35% off from September 6-8 and 30% off from September 20-22 on tickets priced at $55, $45, and $35 ONLY. These special discount ticket offers may be purchased online at the bergenPAC's web site, in person at the theatre's box office located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Special Rates for Senior Citizens, Children & Groups

Verismo Opera is offering a special ticket rate for senior citizens now through October 7, 2012 to see the production of Madama Butterfly. Senior citizens, ages 65 and over, purchasing regular-priced $45 or $35 tickets on non-sale dates are entitled to a 10% discount. This discount is not available online. Call 201-224-2809 to purchase a ticket.

Verismo Opera continues its tradition of introducing and educating youngsters about the joy of fine music. The company is offering a reduced ticket rate of $10 for children, ages 12 and under, to see Madama Butterfly. Children's tickets may be purchased in person at the bergenPAC box office or by calling (201) 227-1030 or toll free at 1-888-PACSHOW.

The company is offering discounted group ticket rates that are not available online. For special rates for group sales only, call (201) 224-2809.

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera has been a part of the New Jersey music scene since 1989. The opera company, a nonprofit organization based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, provides performing opportunities for young musicians and artists. Verismo Opera sponsors an annual vocal competition held in November with finals conducted in Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall, drawing artists from all over the United States, Canada, and Europe.
