SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Rodney Rodchata Aquino, a well-known bachata promoter in the world producing big events such as San Francisco Bachata Festival (www.sfibf.com) and Reno Bachata Festival (www.bachatareno.com), Kizomba Zouk Festival (www.kizombazouksf.com), is hosting the legendary Luis Vargas for the first time in San Francisco.
Rodney Aquino is known for bringing big names in bachata such as Luis Miguel Del Amargue, Teodoro Reyes, Domenic Marte, Joan Soriano and Toby Love.
Luis Vargas is one of the Dominican Republic's most popular bachata musicians. When he began in the early 1990s, Antony Santos, considered by some to be one of the most influential bachata musicians of all time, was his guira player.
Vargas, who sings and plays his own lead guitar, was one of the first to play bachata with the electric guitar - an innovation which contributed to greatly expanding bachata's popularity.
He is also the main character of the movie, Santo Domingo Blues (2005), a film by Alex Wolfe. Santo Domingo Blues is a feature-length documentary that tells the story of the guitar-playing, singer songwriter Luis Vargas and Bachata, the guitar blues of Santo Domingo. Vargas has, at least, produced 30 music albums and recently recorded the popular song, Debate De 4 with Romeo Santos, Anthony Santos and Raulin Rodriguez.
"This is like a dream come true for me," said Aquino, producer of several bachata festivals all over the world. "I have been wanting to bring Luis Vargas here in San Francisco since last year, but scheduling conflicts always got in the way."
"When I heard that Romeo Santos brought Luis Vargas and Anthony Santos as special guests performers for his sold-out Madison Square concert, I told myself that If I can't bring all of them here, I can, at least, do my best to bring one of them," said Aquino.
Luis Vargas will be performing with his band at the popular Pura Nightclub in San Francisco on October 3, 2012. The event will start at 7pm with bachata and kizomba dance classes. And since the event is during the week of the 1st Kizomba Zouk Dance Festival, we were told that it will be be billed as the festival pre-party.
