LateRooms.com - Alcine Showcases Emerging Talent in Madrid

A Madrid suburb will welcome some experimental and up-and-coming artists for an annual film festival later this year.

2010-10-07
MADRID, SPAIN, October 07, 2010 (Press-News.org) Movie buffs have the opportunity to see some really special films during their time at Madrid hotels this year, as Alcine is due to start soon.

Running from November 5th to 13th, this celebration of cinema is sure to provide plenty of unknown gems for even the biggest expert on Spanish movies.

Alcine - also known as the Alcala de Henares/Communidad de Madrid International Film Festival - is not about promoting mainstream flicks, it is a platform for experimental filmmakers and those who might not otherwise have a chance to be seen.

What's on When pointed out that there is a strong emphasis on showing short pictures, with the occasion becoming more and more popular every year.

"As the birthplace of Cervantes, charming Alcala de Henares is famed for its literary heritage. However, come November, cinema takes the spotlight at the city's annual film festival," added the listings website.

Although the action does not take place in the city centre, the town can be easily reached by getting on a train from Atocha.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see all sorts of new Spanish productions and there is also a section for European entries.

The cost, timings and locations of each screening have yet to be announced.

For more information on this event visit the Alcine website or contact the venue on +34 91 887 05 84.
