James Price of San Diego Responds to New Social Marketing Stats

Social marketing expert James Price of San Diego weighs in on a surprising new set of social marketing statistics.

2012-09-07
NEW YORK, NY, September 07, 2012 (Press-News.org) Most business owners and marketing professionals are, at the very least, aware of the positive effects that social media can have on lead generation and sales development. Even so, a recent set of social media statistics, reported by the BostInno blog, might come as a surprise to many business owners. What these statistics reveal is that the exposure provided by social networks is vaster and wider than many business owners might suspect; and, that a precise strategy is in order for truly leveraging this exposure. The report has won the attention of many social marketing experts, among them James Price of San Diego. Price, who currently serves as CEO of Aero Financial, has responded to the BostInno article with a press statement.

The first statistic revealed is that, according to Nielsen, social networking sites and blogs reach roughly 80 percent of all active U.S. Internet users. That population accounts for approximately 245 million individuals.

According to Price, however, it is important to consider this statistic in light of marketing realities. "This statistic reminds us all that, by deploying social media sites, our marketing campaigns can potentially reach a huge volume of people," he says. "However, no company is going to reach 245 million people with a single Facebook post or Tweet. It is important to think critically about the desired audience, and to craft a content creation strategy accordingly. This kind of focus is ultimately what makes social marketing campaigns successful."

The next stat reported by BostInno is that, for the average Internet user, one out of seven minutes spent on the Internet is spent on Facebook. For James Price of San Diego, the implication of this statistic is obvious. "What this shows is that it is important to maintain a robust Facebook presence," he says. "What that means is that companies and marketing strategists should post to Facebook throughout the day. Regular content publication is the key."

The final statistic to win James Price's attention is the finding that 91 percent of seasoned social marketers experience increases in website traffic; 79 percent see improved lead generation. "This is more than just an affirmation of the important role of social media in today's marketing world," says Price. "It is also a reminder of how important it is to use social media not as an end in and of itself, but as a vehicle for driving people to your corporate website, which is where conversion really happens."

James Price of San Diego is the CEO of Aero Financial, a firm that provides a variety of services, including accounting, business plan development, and social marketing, to small businesses.
