Dimensional Control Systems' Senior Account Manager, Rick Rots, to Speak at 2012 NAFEMS North America Conference

Rick Rots will present on the topic of closing the loop between design and manufacturing by marrying 3D variation analysis with FEA analysis to predict the manufacturing process.

2012-09-07
TROY, MI, September 07, 2012 (Press-News.org) Rick Rots, Senior Account Manager at Dimensional Control Systems, a provider of engineered quality solutions, will present at the 2012 NAFEMS North America Conference on the marrying of the FEA analysis results with the 3D Tolerance Analysis simulation. By bringing the two processes together, engineers will be able to more accurately predict the manufacturing process on the overall quality of compliant and flexible assemblies.

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Dulles, just 25 miles from Washington DC, September 11 - 12, 2012. Rick Rots will present "3D FEA Compliant Tolerance Analysis Modeling" at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12.

He will discuss how traditional variation analysis is conducted in a rigid body environment, where parts are assumed to remain intact, and not bend or distort through production or assembly. FEA data encompasses the effects of external forces, such as clamping, welding, or bolting, to the assembly. Using FEA in dimensional variation analysis can optimize assembly characteristics for fit, better perceived quality and test a company's process - not just its end product.

Rick Rots states that, "To best benefit engineers, the application of FEA in dimensional variation analysis should contribute to a closed-loop dimensional engineering approach. The closed-loop approach is referred to as such because it closes the product lifecycle management loop, allowing engineers to apply dimensional engineering to products from start to finish."

The 2012 NAFEMS North America Conference strives to bring together the leading visionaries, developers, and practitioners of CAE-related technologies and business processes to share relevant trends and roadmaps, to explore common themes, and to address these issues in an open forum. The Conference's goal is to provide attendees with insightful content and perspective on how to position their organizations to realize the full potential of CAE.
