JennyBec's Children's Store Celebrates Literacy and 8th Birthday with Giveaways, Party and $500 Shopping Spree

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) JennyBec's children's boutique and design center is supporting National Read a Book Day taking place on September 6 and International Literacy Day on September 8 with a book-a-day giveaway the entire month of September. In October the boutique will celebrate its eighth birthday with fun festivities for kids and a book and toy drive. "Helping children develop a love for reading will help them in every area of their lives," says JennyBec's Founder Jenny Mullennix, who spent many hours reading to earn her law degree.

Throughout September, visitors of JennyBec's can register to win their favorite book from the store's expansive collection, with one winner being chosen daily. Mullennix shares these three tips to get children excited about reading:

1. "Create a special time when you read with your child daily;
2. choose books on topics your child is already interested in;
3. start a book collection or library for your child, then make a game of tracking progress as he or she reads each book."

To celebrate eight years in business, JennyBec's invites the community to join October's month-long birthday celebration by coming into the store to register to win a $500 toy shopping spree and to bring their gently used books and toys for donation to STAR Education, a non-profit organization that provides after school programming and community-based cultural enrichment projects to more than 500 schools, reaching over a million students and their families annually. During the official birthday party weekend on October 20 and 21, children can have their picture taken with Cinderella or Batman, enjoy free cupcakes, have balloon animals made for them, and play games and win prizes all weekend.
