Pickles are powerful. Horman's Best and New York Deli Pickle seek to package this palate-pleasing power by collecting recipes online from die-hard pickle enthusiasts

2010-10-07
GLEN COVE, NY, October 07, 2010 (Press-News.org) Pickles are powerful. Horman's Best and New York Deli Pickle seek to package this palate-pleasing power by collecting recipes online from die-hard pickle enthusiasts. Pickle Power to the People includes anything edible featuring pickles - main dishes, snacks, desserts and beverages.

According to Pickle Packers International, the trade organization for the pickled vegetable industry, American households purchase pickles every 53 days, over 67 percent of all households eat pickles and Americans consume more than 9 pounds of pickles per person annually, and don't forget the pickle that amassed over a million fans on Facebook earlier this year!

"There are no wishy-washy pickle fans, they are a passionate people," say third generation pickling cousins, Nick Horman and Ron Horman, Jr. The two preside over a pickle empire consisting of Horman's Best, a line for farmers' markets and their new retail jarred line, New York Deli Pickle. Both are lauded for freshness, variety of offerings and adherence to an old world family recipe that guarantees "abundant crunchitude" and taste.

Pickle enthusiasts are encouraged to submit recipes (as many as they would like) which include the use of at least one New York Deli Pickle or Horman's Best product as a main ingredient of a beverage, appetizer, main entree, snack or dessert, to http://www.picklepowertothepeople.com where they will be compiled for viewing online as well as in a published version for fans to buy. The site is accepting recipes until the end of the year.

Collaborative, online cookbooks were created to help families and organizations to simply collect and produce cookbooks. The website acts as an easy way for people to participate and for the company to make them available quickly and for a reasonable price. Completed cookbooks will be available in early 2011.
