OAKDALE, MN, September 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Barnard family of Oakdale, MN is writing children's books. But not just any kind of children's book, this series of books is a cross between "Curious George" and "The Berenstain Bears". It's called "Baby Monkey" and they have already released 5 books in their series and have plans for over 300 more.
They have wanted to create a children's book series that was fun and educational for quite some time. But they wondered if they would actually be able to do it and get it off the ground. After working on the idea for the last year and a half, they have finally released several books on Amazon.com. They have an illustrator that works with them closely and they handle everything themselves from the creation of the story to the editing and publication of the books.
They have decided to make the books available exclusively on the amazon kindle platform since that platform is outselling printed books according to Amazon. They hope to someday make the books available in print format as well. The Barnard family is currently at a stand still with the publishing of their children's books due to financial constants. So, they are looking to raise the money that is needed for the next 12 months worth of books. Since they can produce two books a month, they are looking to fund the next 24 books.
The way they are looking to fund their endeavor is through "Crowd Funding" which is where "a crowd" of people give money to the project to fund it and in exchange they receive some type of "reward" for helping out. The donations can be as low as a $1 to whatever amount people wish to donate. They are currently running a campaign to raise the money on KickStarter which is the largest "Crowd Funding" website on the internet.
To view the kickstarter funding campaign or to make a donation you can go to:

At the above link are full color illustrations and examples of their first 5 books and very detailed information about the project as well. The deadline for the campaign is October 9th, 2012.
