Sunflower's UID Solution Will Address New DFARS Rule Change for Government-Furnished Property

Sunflower Systems , the leader in enterprise asset management software and solutions announces Sunflowers' UID Solution will address the changes to the DFARS rule published in the Federal Register on August 29, 2012.

2012-09-09
SAN RAMON, CA, September 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) The final rule which is part of the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS 252.211-7007) alters the requirements of the current clause, which requires Defense contractors to report (primarily) Government-furnished equipment items valued at $5,000 or more, to a new requirement to report all serialized Government-furnished property regardless of unit acquisition value. The revised reporting requirement includes electronic receipt requirements, which will be expanded to non-serialized items by 2014.

The Sunflower UID Solution empowers organizations to support the Department of Defense (DoD) requirements for deliverable end-items, legacy items and property in the possession of contractors (PIPC). The Sunflower UID Solution facilitates compliance through:

• Identification of items that require a Unique Item Identifier (UII) based upon the asset information already recorded in the system
• The generation of compliant UII's, ensuring uniqueness
• The ability to print labels when items reach trigger events
• The creation of files to upload to the Wide-Area Workflow (WAWF) and the IUID Registry in approved file formats
• Facilitate transition of contracts from DD1662 reporting to IUID Registry utilization

"With dozens of the leading government contractors using Sunflower solutions, it is critical we continuously adapt our software to constantly changing regulatory requirements to help ensure our customers continued compliance", says Brian Thompson CPPM CF, Vice President of Solutions for Sunflower. "The management of government property also encompasses the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 52.245-1) where Sunflower provides the physical accountability and transaction history needed in addition to automating Department of Defense Forms DD250 and DD1149 and the NASA Form NF1018 to streamline business practices."
