Earnest Harris Completing Latest Film Script

Comedy Based On Real Life Events

2010-10-07
BURBANK, CA, October 07, 2010 (Press-News.org) Earnest Harris is on the final draft of his latest feature film script, "The 2nd String." The family comedy is loosely based on real life events centered on a Southern California Pop Warner football team.

"I have so enjoyed writing this script," Harris explained. "Being a father I naturally love family comedies anyway, but this was closer to my heart and it is also based on some real life happenings we experienced when our family was involved with Pop Warner football. So doing this gave me a chance to re-live and yes, re-imagine, some of the things that happened during one crazy season."
"The 2nd String" is about a group of young, not so athletic, bench warmers who end up having to finish the year for their team when the team stars, and their parents, abandon the team over the usual adult politics that can overwhelm youth sports. It is a hilarious but inspiring tale about finishing what you start and the power of team work.

This is the fourth film script written by Harris, the first three being the urban comedy, "Wanda's Place," the drama, "Back 2 Society," and the family comedy, 'Dog On The Run," featuring a slew of talking animals. All of the projects are part of the Marlo Productions film slate and are expected to be directed by Harris.

Harris has been writing for over 25 years professionally, though script writing is the most recent addition to his repertoire. An award-winning journalist and freelance writer for many years, he still writes feature pieces and contributes to news and general interest media. He has written for some of the best publications in the country and though he now prefers entertainment-related writing, news and issues are still dear to him. Indeed he is also putting the final wraps on his first book, a non-fiction work on the growing political and social implications of our country's ever-growing numbers of Mixed ethnic people and relationships.

"My first love is writing and it really doesn't matter much to me the type of writing I do," said Harris. "I'm a news hound and I love cultural debate. So it is impossible for me to stray far from my media background. And in many ways, even when I write my scripts, topical and cultural issues find their way into the stories, even though it is subtle. But as long as I am writing, I am happy. I've been trying to focus more on my writing lately as every once in a while I have gotten too far from it."

Production for "The 2nd String" has not been scheduled yet.

An entertainment publicity and image management company.
