Dallas Trial Lawyer Don Godwin Named to Best Lawyers in America 2013

Noted Dallas attorney Don Godwin has been selected for inclusion in the 2013 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

2012-09-14
DALLAS, TX, September 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Trial lawyer Don Godwin, founder of Dallas-based Godwin Ronquillo PC, has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2013 (Copyright 2012 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, SC).

Best Lawyers, which is regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence, honored Mr. Godwin for his tireless work for clients in Commercial Litigation matters. This year marks his second consecutive selection to the exclusive list.

Earlier this year, Mr. Godwin told the Dallas Business Journal how he continues to be driven on behalf of clients as he heads into his 40th year of practice:

"I love practicing law and helping people and companies to protect themselves and advocate their positions, and I like helping to be a part of building this law firm and maintaining our visibility and great reputation. People have asked me lots of times, 'Don, why don't you slow down?' I say to them, 'I do what I do because I love it and not because I consider it work.' I don't envision doing anything other than practicing law. This is what I thrive on doing, and the busier I am, the more energized I am."

To identify the legal industry's top professionals, Best Lawyers surveys tens of thousands of leading attorneys, asking them which lawyers they would refer cases to if they were unable to handle a matter themselves.

Mr. Godwin, Chairman and CEO of Godwin Ronquillo, is one of four firm attorneys to be named in the 2013 edition of Best Lawyers, along with Marcos G. Ronquillo, President and Chair of Godwin Ronquillo's Public Law Section, who earned praise for his work in Commercial Litigation matters; Marilea W. Lewis, Chair of the firm's Family Law Litigation Practice Group, who was chosen for her Mediation work, and George R. Carlton Jr., Chair of the Mass Tort Litigation Practice Group, who was selected for his work in Product Liability Litigation Defense.

Mr. Godwin's practice spans a broad range of complex litigation, including oil and gas, fiduciary duty claims, environmental law, contested wills, major family law disputes and business torts. He has served as the lead trial attorney for Halliburton in civil lawsuits and investigations resulting from the Macondo well blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, in addition to serving as the company's lead defense counsel in asbestos and silica litigation.

Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 36,000 leading attorneys cast almost 4.4 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers "the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice."

Founded in 1980, Godwin Ronquillo PC is a mid-sized trial and appellate firm with a national practice. With offices in Dallas, Houston and Plano, Godwin Ronquillo represents Fortune 500 and middle-market industry leaders in Mission Critical Litigation throughout the United States.
