Vintage Tech President Karrie Gibson Honored With Rosie Award

Vintage Tech Recyclers President Karrie Gibson has been given the Rosie Award for powerful and influential women by Waste & Recycling News.

ROMEOVILLE, IL, September 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Karrie Gibson, President and CEO of Vintage Tech Recyclers has been awarded the 2012 Rosie Award, which recognizes powerful and influential women in the recycling industry.

This was the first year that the Rosie Award, named in honor of Rosie the Riveter, was issued. It was created by Waste & Recycling News and honors women in the recycling industry who "inspire greatness with their leadership, work ethic, vision, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship," according to the organization's website.

President Karrie Gibson created Vintage Tech from her basement as a stay-at-home mom in 2005. In just a few years, she has expanded the business to three major recycling plants in Romeoville, Ill., Plainfield, Ill., and Riverside, Mo. In addition, she has established multiple business partnerships with Habitat for Humanity to provide permanent electronics recycling drop boxes throughout the Midwest.

Her goal of making the Earth a greener place for future generations has driven Vintage Tech's mission of keeping electronics out of landfills. The company's practices reflect Gibson's personal values of social responsibility and high ethical standards. By offering responsible electronic recycling services to businesses, schools, and consumers, Vintage Tech helps prevent the environmental damage caused by irresponsibly discarded electronics.

The Rosie Award was one of several national distinctions that Vintage Tech has received in the past year. Accompanying it are Vintage Tech's Better Business Bureau Torch Award, The Naperville Chambers Small Business of the Year Award, Featured in Forbes Magazine for its 100 Most Powerful Women Issue, its e-Stewards certification, and Gibson's NAPW Professional Woman of the Year recognition.
