TROY Group Announces New Focus with TROY Healthcare Solutions Division

Leader of on-demand secure printing solutions forms healthcare division to specialize in health compliance and security solutions.

2012-09-26
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) TROY Group, Inc., a worldwide leader in secure on-demand MICR printing systems, announced the creation of a new division, TROY Healthcare Solutions. The new focus allows TROY to address the increasing call for new solutions that help healthcare organizations implement electronic health records initiatives and comply with health records security requirements.

For more than 35 years, TROY has been an innovator in secure check printing software solutions for financial and other industries. In 2009, TROY leveraged this expertise in secure prescription printing by incorporating HP toner cartridge to introduce SecureRx printers, specially designed to securely print prescriptions that met a new Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Service (CMS) prescription security requirement. Since then, TROY expanded its product line with TROY Secure Print Enterprise ("TSPE"), a powerful software platform that translates a prescription print file into a secure prescription printed on plain paper. Healthcare facilities can realize a return on investment within six to 12 months, as more than 100 TROY TSPE users have realized.

TROY Group CEO Patrick Dirk said the new division represents TROY's commitment to enhancing healthcare by bringing new benefits to the healthcare industry. "The societal and monetary costs of sophisticated fraud activity call for stronger methods of securing healthcare information," he said. "TROY is committed to helping our providers protect the integrity of secure documents and confidential patient information."

TROY Healthcare Solutions have been widely integrated by healthcare practices that have implemented Meaningful Use (MU) of electronic medical records (EMR) technologies. MU, a federal program that incentivizes facilities that adopt automation of patient care data, calls for electronic patient-centric recordkeeping and communication between providers. TROY research and development efforts are focused on further innovations that allow compliance with these mandates, offering healthcare providers secure solutions that bring cost containment and efficiency, thereby allowing more time for patient care, protecting patient information and reducing the risk of prescription fraud.

John Hodgson has been named vice president and general manager for TROY Healthcare Solutions, having served as TROY vice president of marketing and business development. Dirk said Hodgson's history with the company provides a solid foundation for the new healthcare division. "John has played a key role in the development of our current healthcare initiatives," he said. "He brings innovative ideas, leadership and expertise to TROY Healthcare Solutions that I am confident will result in exciting new offerings for the healthcare industry."

About Troy Group: TROY Healthcare Solutions offers software solutions that automate secure prescription issuance and assist compliance with patient confidentiality regulations. A division of TROY Group, Inc. ("TROY"), a worldwide leader in secure on-demand MICR check printing systems, TROY Healthcare Solutions create efficiency and security so medical professionals can concentrate on patient care. Using more than 30 years of secure on-demand printing expertise, TROY has developed secure prescription printing solutions with unprecedented fraud deterrence features. These features provide complete compliance with federal regulations in healthcare prescription applications and have allowed healthcare providers to prepare for new electronic health record (EHR) mandates. TROY research and development efforts focus on further innovations that promote secure healthcare information environments.
