BELLEVILLE, IL, September 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) We at the "The Fight Continues" are starting a Veteran Service Project for the first Veterans Day after the end of the Iraq war. For all young Veterans who want to give something back, we at "The Fight Continues" will read all names of our fallen veterans throughout all conflicts from the birth of the United States of America. This being the first Veterans Day since Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be your chance for the younger generation of Veterans to not only participate, but see what Veterans Day is all about. Also, it will be a chance for the Veterans of the Global War on Terrorism to recognize all of the men and women who protect American values as well as freedom.
Our idea is to have six hundred "Reading" locations across the United States. Each location has about approximately 1,750 names, estimating eight names per minute which will take an estimated two and half hours per location. This is huge task, which has never been done before, but our fallen brothers and sisters' sacrifice can never be forgotten. We will read these names simultaneously throughout the Nation with a standardized starting time. This will be a historic event that helps honor today's war veterans and all that came before us.
The Fight Continues was founded by OIF Veterans, James Sperry and Eric Calley. Our mission is to help educate the public on today's sacrifices made by our military families, in order to make this generation of war veterans the next" Greatest Generation." James Sperry is a United States Marine with two Purple Hearts and fought in the Battle of Fallujah. James Sperry lost over 20 friends to the Global War on Terrorism. He has experienced all the lows from Combat injuries and now has moved on to help rebuild America with this generation of war veterans.
What we need from the American Public is 600 locations across the United States and volunteers to help us complete this mission. We are also asking that if a Mother or Family member of a fallen Soldier attends your reading, please add their son/daughter's name to the list of the soldiers we give you. So that we might honor all of our fallen soldiers properly.
