Self-Service Private and Hybrid Cloud Coalition Gains Momentum

RALEIGH, NC, October 08, 2010 (Press-News.org) newScale, rPath and Eucalyptus Systems, a coalition focused on bringing self-service private and hybrid clouds to the enterprise, today announced that it has formalized its name and launched a coalition website located at http://www.NREcloud.com.

The coalition, which is now called The NRE Alliance (NRE), was announced in August at VMworld 2010, where technologies from NRE members newScale and rPath won Best of VMworld 2010 awards in the "Private Cloud Computing" category.

Self-service private and hybrid cloud computing continues to generate a lot of interest as pressure mounts on IT departments to deliver the kinds of simple, self-service, on-demand infrastructure services readily available from public clouds like Rackspace or Amazon EC2. However, most IT organizations lack the infrastructure and process maturity to provide the dynamic elasticity found in the public cloud. And most public cloud services lack the governance, management and control required for enterprise IT.

At VMworld 2010, newScale, rPath and Eucalyptus Systems announced an integrated technology platform that will provide an on-ramp to private and hybrid clouds in the enterprise.
