BOSTON, MA, October 08, 2010 (Press-News.org) Are you socking away money to heat your home this winter? Even though heating costs have steadily risen over the last five years, homeowners with "dinosaur" furnaces end up spending at least 30 percent more than homeowners with newer, energy efficient furnaces to heat their home each winter.
Winters Company, providers of plumbing, heating and air quality home services to thousands of residents in the greater Boston area, will be awarding a brand new $2500 energy efficient York heating system, fully-installed, along with one-year service contract to the person who can show that he or she has the oldest working heating system in the area.
Homeowners who think they have the oldest, most outdated heating system in the greater Boston area can call Winters Company at (617) 484-2121 to enter the "Jurassic Furnace" contest.
York heating systems are built with proven components to provide safe, clean and reliable comfort year-round. The average lifespan of a furnace is 12 to 15 years. Tim Flynn, president of Winters Company, expects to see at least one or two homeowners with furnaces that are 20 to 30 years old.
"Some homeowners with older furnaces believe their heating bill will be manageable because their home is small and they keep the heat set at 60. Then they get their bill, which is outrageous, and they ask themselves why they are bundled up in sweaters all the time. A newer, energy efficient furnace works at maximum capacity for a lot less money," noted Flynn
He continued, "Our contest gives the owners of 'Jurassic period' heating systems an opportunity to win a brand new, energy efficient heating system, fully-installed complete with a one-year service contract.
According to Flynn, a new heating system pays for itself in a matter of months. A homeowner could save approximately $200 to $300 on the heating bill every month.
