LANSING, MI, September 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Visual Fusion, the data visualization software technolonew linkgy underpinning IDV Solutions' Visual Command Center solution for risk awareness and response, has been awarded SAFETY Act designation by U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It is the first product in its class to receive designation as a "Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT)."
The award comes after a rigorous, six-month vetting process by DHS's Science and Technology Directorate, in which Visual Fusion was reviewed by technical and other teams composed of experts in federal, state, and local public safety agencies, national laboratories, and academia to establish "proven effectiveness" that it performs as designed.
In addition, IDV Solutions was required to demonstrate "domain expertise" and favorable customer feedback from United States Government deployments. Visual Fusion is currently deployed in the DHS Virtual City project on the U.S.-Canada border. Visual Fusion is also deployed at the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, and in agencies such as the Department of Transportation, Department of Justice, and others.
"There has been no question among our customers that Visual Fusion's world-class data visualization capabilities are effective," said Ian Clemens, Chief Technical Officer, IDV Solutions. "SAFETY Act designation for Visual Fusion will open doors to new customers and extend important liability protections to current customers, their contractors, and users."
The Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 ("SAFETY Act") was initiated to foster the development and commercialization of new and innovative anti-terrorism technologies that can help protect our country, citizens, and critical assets. It provides important liability protections to Visual Fusion customers, the customers' contractors, downstream users of the QATT, and others by limiting the claims that can be brought against such users, in the event that such claims arise from acts of terrorism where Visual Fusion was deployed.
