Ashe Avenue Development sponsors 2012 hackathon

Brooklyn-based web shop supports local tech students at hackNY

BROOKLYN, NY, September 30, 2012

Ashe Avenue (www.asheavenue.com), a web development and design group headquartered in Brooklyn, N.Y., is pleased to announce its gold sponsorship for the 2012 hackNY student hacakathon, a 24-hour coding event in which university students build original applications based on the technologies of participating startup companies.

Co-organized by faculty from NYU and Columbia, and with a board of advisors that includes educators, technologists, and entrepreneurs, hackNY organizes studenthackathons every semester in order to create and empower a community of student-technologists. The fall event draws students from Yale, N.Y.U., Brown, Columbia and Boston University, as well as other local colleges.

"We look forward to this great event", said John McKinney, CEO and founder of Ashe Avenue Development. "We're always on the lookout for new, young talent and hackNY really displays a student's ability to learn, collaborate, network and create."

Ashe Avenue partners with media groups, ad agencies and creative boutiques to transform ideas into elaborate multimedia experiences, celebrity-driven contests, web applications, HTML5 luxury car showrooms, international marketing campaigns and more. Since 2008, the company's sites have taken home more than 10 Webby Awards.
