WINSTON-SALEM, NC, September 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) The senior management team at Truliant Federal Credit Union recently volunteered to help build a home with Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County. The house was framed by the Career Center and then moved to its new location in the Trent Hill neighborhood. Habitat of Forsyth County has a partnership with the school system that enables students at the Career Center to learn while volunteers, like Truliant's team, help complete the home. In addition, Truliant also donated $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
"Working side-by-side to help build a Habitat for Humanity home in Forsyth County enables us to give back to the communities we serve," said Joe Clark, Truliant's legal counsel. "Our mission is to enhance the financial lives of our member-owners, and this effort is one of the many other ways that Truliant enhances lives."
Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County is a hands-on, ecumenical Christian ministry that allows low-income working families to realize the dream of owning a home. Habitat for Humanity builds homes with the help of volunteers and those families who meet the income and work history requirements to be selected as Partner Families. Habitat families must complete 200-400 "sweat equity" hours by working on their own homes, other families' homes, or by contributing volunteer hours at Habitat before they can purchase their homes. Their mortgage payments enable Habitat to continue the cycle, building more homes for Partner Families.
Please visit http://www.habitatforsyth.org for more information about volunteering or homeownership criteria, including how to apply.
