DisabilityEmployment.net bloggers include those with disabilities, who share insights on topics including how to look for a job in a variety of industries, overcome barriers to employment, and tips on how to succeed in an interview. The site was created to foster a community where job seekers and hiring managers are free to discuss issues pertaining to employment and disability.

The designated month is an extension of "National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week," originally observed during the first week of October, beginning in 1962.
