SOUTHFIELD, MI, September 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) Big Tent Jobs, LLC, a leading recruiter of technical talent, including professionals who have a disability, announces the launch of DisabilityEmployment.net, a blog focused on illuminating the benefits of an inclusive workforce.
DisabilityEmployment.net bloggers include those with disabilities, who share insights on topics including how to look for a job in a variety of industries, overcome barriers to employment, and tips on how to succeed in an interview. The site was created to foster a community where job seekers and hiring managers are free to discuss issues pertaining to employment and disability.
Adam Kaplan, founder and CEO of Big Tent Jobs, is excited for the launch of the blog. "Our vision is to empower people with disabilities to confidently bring all of themselves to work, including their disability or chronic condition, and to leverage what they have overcome in their lives as a strength in work collaborations, business development and in the overall progression of their careers. This kind of online community where they can learn from one another is a tool to achieve that goal."
The launch of DisabilityEmployment.net fittingly coincides with Disability Employment Awareness Month. Declared in 1988 by the U.S. Congress, National Disability Employment Awareness month raises awareness of the employment needs and contributions of individuals with all types of disabilities. The designated month is an extension of "National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week," originally observed during the first week of October, beginning in 1962.
Those interested in submitting blogs for consideration should send a sample blog or writing sample to info@disabilityemployment.net, or visit DisabilityEmployment.net for more information.
Big Tent Jobs, LLC is a Michigan-based recruiting company which places skilled and college-educated professionals, including those with hidden and visible disabilities, in positions at leading companies and organizations.
