MOUNT PLEASANT, SC, October 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina will be hosting Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown a Southern Barbeque Network sanctioned event benefiting the Lowcountry Food Bank. The barbeque competition will be held at The Lookout Pavilion November 16 - 18, 2012. Smoke on the Harbor is open to professional and amateur barbeque chefs who are looking to compete in 3 different meat categories including chicken wings, pork butts and ribs for a total of $6,000 in prize money. The event is open to the public where they will have a chance to sample some of the barbeque creations throughout the weekend. Cost of entry for teams is $175.00 if teams register before October 16th and $225.00 after October 16th.
Guests are encouraged to donate non perishable food items that will benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank. Donations will be accepted throughout the weekend and guests who donate 5 canned goods will receive $5.00 off their price of admission.
Smoke on the Harbor has also just announced the commitment of Leslie Haywood, Founder and President of Charmed Life Products, inventor of Grill Charms, as the Ambassador of Barbeque and Master of Ceremonies. "How did I get so lucky?" asks Haywood "It is an honor and a privilege to be named Ambassador of Barbeque for Charleston's first annual Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown. The stiff competition, coupled with 2 days of amazing entertainment hosted at a venue with the gorgeous Charleston Harbor and cityscape as a backdrop and you've got yourself a 'Can't Miss' event."
