RALEIGH, NC, October 06, 2012 (Press-News.org) Rapid Fitness (http://www.rapidfitness.com), the Triangle's leading gym and fitness center, has announced that it has become the first gym in the United States to offer "Strong Over 50," a revolutionary, progressive fitness concept that changes the way a person above the age of 50 exercises and stays fit. The program uses the SO-50, a product manufactured and developed in the Triangle that recently hit the fitness market which focuses on body weight suspension training and allows participants to progressively work towards their fitness goals by improving their balance, endurance and core strength.
Rapid Fitness hosted the first "Strong Over 50" class for its members and their guests on Saturday, Sept. 22 at its 7101 Glenwood Ave. location and will continue to host the class on a regular basis. It is targeted for baby boomers, the fastest growing population in the gym industry, but members and guests of any age are invited to attend. The program features a wide variety of exercises using the SO-50 and multiple levels of difficulty by angling the body in a certain position and adding resistance.
The SO-50 was manufactured and developed five years ago by Shipman Technologies, based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. It can be used by people of all ages and fitness levels to improve their physical well-being, as well as serve as a good tool for physical therapy when recovering from an injury.

QUOTES:
"We are excited to offer the new 'Strong Over 50' program to our members," said Michael Rattenni, Rapid Fitness owner. "We strongly believe that this concept and product is the next big innovation for the fitness industry. Participants in the class and program will see great results, whether they are in their 20s and exercise every day, or in their 50s and above and have not exercised in years."
