NEW YORK, NY, October 07, 2012 (Press-News.org) Debra Burdick, LCSW, BCN, also known as "The Brain Lady', teaches health practitioners how to work with, and achieve results with, Mindfulness Toolkits for Kids, Teens, and Adults with ADHD at seminars in Albany, Binghamton, and Syracuse, NY October 3, 4, and 5, 2012; and in Bensalem and King of Prussia, PA, and Cherry Hill, NJ, October 24, 25, and 26, 2012. The seminars are sponsored by CMI/PESI, a non-profit educational institute for professionals.
Based on extensive mindfulness research and her work with hundreds of clients, Burdick's trainings utilize experiential techniques to teach mindfulness skills to therapists, teachers, and health practitioners. According to Burdick, the benefits demonstrated by research are compelling, and include improved concentration, a sense of overall well-being, and, more self-awareness. Clinicians and teachers who use the techniques say their clients or students improve in their daily activities - they can self-regulate their moods, focus better, sleep well, and experience success in school and at work.
The seminars are approved for Continuing Education credits for social workers, psychologists, other healthcare professionals, and teachers. For registration and more information call (800)844-8260 or go to pesi.com on the Internet. Links to Burdick's courses can be found directly at thebrainlady.com/events/.
Burdick lectures throughout the year for CMI/PESI and other professional groups and organizations. She is a frequent speaker for teleseminars; earlier this week she was a featured speaker for Astrid Wit's teleseminar at WhatTheExpertsKnow.com where she offered advice on how to help your child succeed.
Burdick, a board-certified neurofeedback practitioner and licensed clinical social worker has provided outpatient psychotherapy and mindfulness skills to clients since 1990. She is unusually aware of challenges and successes related to ADHD as she parented a daughter with ADHD, and was married to a man with ADHD. She used mindfulness techniques to help herself heal from a chronic illness.
Burdick is the author of several books and CD's about ADHD diagnosis, treatment options, and alternative approaches for children, adults, and parents. Her work has been featured in Self Improvement Magazine, and she is an online expert at SelfGrowth.com.
Mindfulness Toolkit Workbook: Therapeutic Options for Overcoming Life Stressors, a new book to be released in spring 2013, includes the latest breakthroughs and tools that teach clients, patients, and students how to benefit from mindfulness in their lives. Burdick's Internet site at TheBrainLady.com mental health information, resources, and a free newsletter with useful tips from the latest brain research.
