DOYLESTOWN, PA, October 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Philadelphia personal injury lawyer Royce W. Smith of Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig LLP will serve as a course planner and moderator of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's continuing legal education (CLE) program, "Doctors / Lawyers Explore the Debate on Tort Reform" on Nov. 1, 2012. This medical malpractice seminar, which offers substantive advice for all levels of plaintiffs' and defense litigators as well as corporate and other interested attorneys, will be offered via live webcast. Individuals can also register to participate in the program from nine walk-in seminar locations throughout Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia.
Smith will be joined by the following panelists during the four hour program: fellow Feldman Shepherd attorneys Roberta D. Pichini and Evan Y. Liu, MD, MS; Leon Aussprung, MD, JD, FCLM, The Law Office of Leon Aussprung M.D. LLC; Michael L. Brooks, MD, JD, FCLM, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital; Professor Barry R. The participating doctors and attorneys will address the ongoing issues related to tort reform such as how a doctor / lawyer views a medical malpractice case, trying medical malpractice cases in small towns, creative ways to use medical expert witnesses, how healthcare reform / Obamacare and tort reform are bound to one another, simplifying medical concepts for the jury and much more. During his career, Smith has served as lead or co-counsel in cases that have garnered millions in verdicts and settlements for his clients. His extensive practice includes wrongful death, medical malpractice, birth injuries, brain injuries, auto accidents, construction accidents, defective drugs and medical devices and civil rights matters, among others.
Smith serves as a Minority Caucus Delegate to the American Association for Justice and a Minority Caucus Board Member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. He is also an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Drexel University's Earl Mack School of Law and a trial advocacy and evidence instructor for the University's Earl Mack School of Law Trial Team.

A frequent author and lecturer, Smith has published numerous scholarly articles and regularly presents educational courses to his peers. He is also a regular guest on a variety of 105.3 WDAS-FM's radio programming.
