EL MONTE, CA, October 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) King Ice, an online men's jewelry company, is hosting its first short film contest. King Ice, in an attempt to branch out from their usual rap contests, is giving aspiring filmmakers and actors the chance to win up to a thousand dollars in prizes. The short film video contest will be held online from October 22 through November 26 via the King Ice website and official Facebook contest page. 
Filmmakers are free to choose any genre for their entry however they are required to incorporate the online jeweler. The contest will be administered through the company's official video contest page on Facebook. The Facebook page allows visitors to submit their film, view others, and vote for their favorites. The film with the most votes will be awarded the Fan Favorite prize of a $100 gift card for KingIce.com. The grand prize winner will receive $500 in cash and a $500 King Ice gift card. Second and third place winners will receive a $250 and $100 gift card respectively. 
Contest entries will be evaluated based on four criteria: acting, editing, sound design, and script. The winners will be announced on December 3. The company is excited to see what filmmakers will create. 
"We're expecting to see some creative short films from this contest," said Derek of King Ice. "This is our first short film video contest but based on the response of our rap contest videos, we're confident our fans will produce excellent short films."

High-risk children adopted from foster care do equally well when placed with gay, lesbian or heterosexual parents, UCLA psychologists report in the first multi-year study of children adopted by these three groups of parents.
