The Chef's Academy Partners With Indianapolis Public Schools For "Chefs Move To Schools" Initiative

Local Culinary Institution's Students Help Make Schools Even Healthier On Oct. 31

2012-10-20
INDIANAPOLIS, October 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Chef's Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced its partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools for the "Chefs Move To Schools" initiative, founded in May 2010 as a part of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign. As part of the initiative, students from The Chef's Academy, along with members of the American Culinary Federation, will be in seven Indianapolis Public Schools on Wednesday, Oct. 31 to talk to students about healthier eating options, as well as assisting in serving lunch with a special menu item to faculty and students.

Nearly one-third of Indiana children ages 10 through 17 are considered obese, and school breakfasts and lunches account for five to 10 meals consumed by school-aged children each week. Through "Chefs Move To Schools", The Chef's Academy looks to continue its relationship with Indianapolis Public Schools by providing healthier eating options for Indianapolis' youth.

As part of these efforts, The Chef's Academy's students will prepare a marinated vegetable salad, made healthier by replacing salad dressing with vinaigrette made with olive oil donated by Bogaris and fresh herbs. In order to encourage ongoing learning about eating right, students in the seven schools will be given a recipe card for the salad, with a link to a healthy eating website developed by Chef Jason Anderson.

"At The Chef's Academy, our students are dedicated to making healthy eating fun for and accessible to others. The marinated vegetable salad is a great option for cafeteria managers, as well as cost-conscious parents, to increase the amount of nutritious food that children eat."

Red Raspberries Pest Solutions' Plant-Based Mice Elimination Method

2012-10-20

As for those caught...everyone (homeowners, techs, mice) hates that day as some need to discard the losers caught (techs), some might see the casualties (homeowners) and some will curse the trap manufacturer (mice). Besides...traps are like the Army says: "one shot, one kill" so a family of mice will require 6-8 traps if elimination is desired quick. Who wants a basement full of traps? Chemical ...
