SALISBURY, AUSTRALIA, October 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Brisbane Christian College has taken learning outside of the classroom with a new interactive garden based on the book I Grow in Grandad's Garden by author Brian Andrew.
The Brisbane Christian College interactive garden features a Think and Thank seat, Let Go Log, Cross Over Corner and a Dream Table and was developed to teach children essential life lessons outside of the classroom.
Students are invited to stop at each point and reflect on the things they can say thank you for, to choose to forgive those who have hurt them, to have courage when they feel afraid and to think of ways that they can be generous. The values of gratitude, forgiveness, courage and generosity are taught while students have fun in the garden with their friends.
Ellie, Brian Andrew's grandaughter and character in the book is a current student at Brisbane Christian College.
Brian Andrew is a storyteller, columnist, author, consultant, speaker and lecturer.
His self-published and recently released children's book, 'I Grow in Grandad's Garden' is on a fast track to becoming a best seller. Over 8,000 copies have been sold in the first 18 months.
