PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) A recent Huffington Post article shared information on the negative impact tobacco use can have on the body. In the piece, the Cancer Society of Finland outlined a number of undesirable effects on the outward appearances of the skin and mouth. A leading retailer of electronic cigarettes, Regal Cigs, commented on the report.
According to the article, the chemicals found in tobacco smoke contribute to a lack of resilience in the skin's naturally elastic fibers. As such, skin can begin to appear to sag and gain an overall unhealthy look. This is particularly true for the facial skin which receives the most exposure to tobacco smoke.
The informational piece goes on to note smokers of tobacco cigarettes are more likely than non-smokers to experience acne breakouts. In addition, female smokers are like to develop an increased amount of facial hair on the upper lip.
In a statement to the press, Regal Cigs noted electronic cigarettes do not contribute to these negative effects on skin's appearance. The company commented, "Electronic cigarette devices utilize a unique atomizer that gives off water vapor in place of chemical-laden tobacco smoke. As such, users of electronic cigarettes are not exposed to the negative side effects attributed to the use of traditional tobacco cigarettes. Water vapor is not known to harm the skin in any way."
In addition to the effects on the skin, the article notes that tobacco does not benefit the mouth. It instead tends to yellow the teeth, leaving smokers wistful for their once pearly whites.
Furthermore, tobacco use leaves teeth susceptible to developing new stains, leading to ongoing discoloration.
The article also states inhaling tobacco smoke contributes to bad breath. Accordingly, a poll sponsored by the Cancer Society of Finland indicated 20 percent of couples in romantic relationships ended their relationships due to the use of tobacco cigarettes.
Today, many individuals who once used tobacco cigarettes are turning to electronic cigarettes, such as those produced by Regal Cigs. These devices allow smokers to continue to enjoy the sensation of smoking without exposure to tobacco smoke.
