Gerbarg, MD, an integrative mental health expert based in New York state who assists 9/11 responders and others to recover from mass disasters, will discuss how to use your breath to heal trauma with host Michele Rosenthal on Your Life After Trauma radio Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00 am PST, 2:00 pm EST, on the Internet or by phone. Dr. Gerbarg will discuss how to promote optimal wellness for anyone living with PTSD, depression, and anxiety. She will explain how to use the breath, and how mind-body practices can relieve PTSD symptoms, augment the effects of medication, and reduce the amount of medication needed for optimal outcomes.

Breathing examples from Dr. Gerbarg's award-winning book and CD co-authored with Dr. Richard P. Brown, The Healing Power of the Breath (Shambhala, 2012), are included. Dr. Gerbarg also co-authored with Drs. Richard P. Dr. Gerbarg is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychiatry at New York Medical College. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. In addition to her clinical practice in Kingston, NY, she provides consultation and facilitates the development of research projects on the health benefits of mind-body practices for recovery from stress, anxiety, PTSD, and mass disasters such at the September 11th World Trade Center attacks, the southeast Asian tsunami, the Horizon Gulf oil spill, war in Sudan, and military personnel. Michele Rosenthal is an author, speaker, and post-trauma recovery coach. She is the founder of HealMyPTSD.com.
