Cancer Research Turns to Sigmer to Deploy a Worldwide Cancer Research Survey

Cancer Research UK funds over half of the UK's cancer research. CR UK turned to Sigmer Technologies to develop and manage a large research survey targeting clinicians in 10 jurisdictions throughout the World.

2012-11-01
EAST SUSSEX, ENGLAND, November 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Requirement:

CR UK required a complex on-line survey that would gather information on the approach to diagnosis and treatment. Participants were also presented with randomly selected sets of clinical scenarios.

Developing the survey:

Development of the survey required working closely with the CR UK research team to implement the complex logic of the questionnaire. In order to allow additional questions to be presented for individual jurisdictions, the structure of the questionnaire was made flexible to allow the inclusion of jurisdictional elements.

A number of jurisdictions also required the survey to be presented in their native language, as well as encompassing regional differences in clinical terminology. The survey was therefore executed simultaneously in a number of languages.

The survey was attractively branded and the questionnaire had a number of usability features to provide the progressive reveal of supporting information.

Delivering the survey:

Participants were invited to the survey by a number of routes including e-mail and postal. In all cases participants were provided with an individual invitation.

Postal invitations were designed to allow participants to easily reach the survey on-line without having to type a long and complicated URL.

The project team in each jurisdiction, plus the CR UK core team, each received an on-line reporting portal allowing them to monitor rates of response in their area plus to view a report of responses and download anonymised response data.

The survey has been a great success and has collected valuable research data through a robust and auditable process.

Sigmer regard all survey data as sensitive and there are appropriate processes and facilities in place to provide the correct level of protection for all data-types.

To underline our commitment to data protection we have achieved the ISO27001:2005 standard for information Security Management. We also hold certification for ISO 9001 : ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

Sigmer servers are located in a high-security datacentre in the UK and are managed only by Sigmer staff.. All servers have high availability and connectivity with multiple separate connections to multiple internet backbone providers and all have dynamic bandwidth capability.

The survey system itself is very robust and has successfully undergone penetration testing by external agencies. See our range of survey case-studies at http://www.surveysuite.co.uk/case_studies/index.php
