Romance Comedy Revival, Taking Me For a Ride, Debuts at Alcove Theater
The American premier of Taking Me For A Ride? takes the audience through the lifelong odyssey of two characters as their friendship develops, takes unexpected twists and turns and grows into a deeper relationship.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, November 03, 2012
From the animated entrance of the characters, She and He, the play follows them through a full range of drama and humor. The couple shares their secrets hopes, dreams and experiences as they evolve and journey through life, sometimes together, sometimes apart. At times they find themselves laughing as they share joyful moments while, at other times, they suffer pain and longing together. Scenes tinted with kindness and cruelty, bliss and bitterness and at times, irony; keep the audience engaged as unexpected developments shape each of the characters throughout the play.Taking Me For A Ride?, by French playwright Louise Cormelin, originally debuted as Tu me mènes en bateau? une drôle d'histoire d'amour in 1978 at the Festival d'Avignon, in France. Benefiting from highly regarded, favorable reviews in Avignon, it enjoyed a successful run in Paris where 30 performances received critical acclaim. The English translation by Director Patrick Feigelson captures the original dramatic nuances and transforms French comedy into an equally hilarious American brand of humor.
Credits include the author, Louise Cormelin and the cast - Erica Andracchio as She and Topher Clark as He - the directors Patrick Feigelson and Nathan Putnam, with music by Dan Levin and video by Benjamin Simon. This is the 11th San Francisco production of Generation Theatre, a non-profit theater company co-founded by David Valayre and Patrick Feigelson in 2008.
