Still Point Art Gallery Call for Submissions: Ordinary Everyday Objects

Still Point art Gallery invites artists from all over the world who are 18 years or older to submit to its Spring 2013 gallery: Ordinary Everyday Objects

BRUNSWICK, ME, November 08, 2012

Still Point Art Gallery invites submissions for its upcoming online exhibition and publication opportunity. The title of the exhibition is Ordinary Everyday Objects.

Artists are asked to examine commonplace everyday objects and showcase them as visually appealing elements of everyday life. Christine Cote, the gallery owner and director, wrote the description for the exhibition: "Take a look at the ordinary everyday objects you see every ordinary day. Objects small or large. Objects red, blue, or yellow; black or white. Objects hard or soft, old or new, shiny or dull. Objects for home, school, or work. Objects expendable; objects remarkable. Objects found, bought, or given. All sorts of objects...ordinary everyday objects."

Selected images will appear online from February 6th to April 30th. In addition selected artists will have one or more of their images in the spring 2013 issue of Still Point Arts Quarterly. Thirty artists will be chosen for the exhibition. Awards for Best in Show (Single Image), Best in Show (Portfolio), Best Photograph or Digital Artwork, Best Painting, and Best Three-Dimensional or Mixed Media piece will be chosen from among the submissions.

Each award recipient will be invited to exhibit his or her art for one year as a Gallery Artist; and will be invited to submit a portfolio for publication in Still Point Arts Quarterly, which comes with an honorarium of $100, one year of free advertising worth $180, and a free one-year subscription to the Quarterly worth $36.

Artists aged 18 years and older are encouraged to submit pieces, excluding video pieces and wearable art. The deadline for submissions is January 7th, 2013. The online exhibition opens on February 6th of that year and continues until April 30th. More information may be found on the gallery's website- http://www.stillpointartgallery.com.
