Their free basic online Pet Application Service streamlines the adoption process by matching pet owners with local animal shelters and rescues across the U.S. aNewPet aims to bring together the pet community as a resource for pet lovers. They are committed to ensuring that proper information about pet adoption is available from day one to all pet lovers.
In the United States, there is still a huge need for pet adoption especially from animal shelters. aNewPet' s CEO, Bicky Shen, is committed to closing the gap on the 3 to 5 million homeless pets that are euthanized each year.
'There is still an overpopulation problem across the country. Only 20 to 30 percent of pets are actually adopted from shelters. Pets in shelters that don' t get adopted are usually killed after a week,' says Shen.
Shen surveyed pet owners and found that they thought the pet adoption process was too complicated, and some even felt it was more difficult than adopting a child. aNewPet simplifies the initial adoption application process: people register on aNewPet's website - there is no cost to sign up - and fill out one simple application for all shelters instead of multiple applications. Once approved by a local shelter, applicants can pick up their new pet.
Shen explains that pet adoption applications are rejected for a variety of reasons. Instead of having people undergo the lengthy adoption process only to be rejected multiple times, aNewPet's Pet Application Service turns adoption into a positive experience by having shelters reach out to applicants only if there is a match.
The online process saves time and money while making the entire process easier for pet adoption applicants as well as shelters and rescues. People can identify specific criteria on their application (i.e. if they want a certain breed), which makes it easier for shelters to match up owners with pets that fit their specific mutual needs and lifestyle.
