JACKSONVILLE, FL, November 10, 2012 (Press-News.org) Tax Defense Network Charity Supports Moffitt Cancer Center for Skin Cancer Awareness
August is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and a perfect time to contribute towards helping cancer patients. Tax Defense Network charity raised funds to donate to Moffitt Cancer Center to help them further their research and health care. The decision to choose Moffitt Cancer Center was partly made because of the excellent work done by the hospital in treating melanoma and other skin cancers, and also because of a personal story connecting us and the hospital.
One of the co-workers within the Tax Defense Network charity division had her father treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma at Moffitt Cancer Center. She has first-hand experience of Moffitt and gave such a tremendous review of the hospital that it convinced Tax Defense Network charity to participate.
While supporting the extensive research of Moffitt Cancer Center, Tax Defense Network charity learned that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States and accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the U.S. Each year, more than 2 million cases of skin cancer are found. The enormity of the disease came as a surprise, and made the charity even more determined to help others fight it.
Tax Defense Network Charity Teams Up for Breast Cancer Awareness
Apart from participating in the American Heart Association's annual Heart Walk in September and Hubbard House in August, the Tax Defense Network charity had fellow employees slip into casual wear to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. A donation of five dollars was requested from all those who were in casual attire. At the end of the day, the Tax Defense Network charity collected hundreds of dollars for the foundation, which was used for helping research on breast cancer.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation organizes events such as the Race for the Cure, Art for the Cure, and the Young Survivors Conference, to keep their research on breast cancer well funded and to spread awareness about the disease.
In the United States, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women besides skin cancer. A little below 30% of all cancers diagnosed in American women is breast cancer. With institutions like the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and others, there is hope of finding a cure for breast cancer.
Tax Defense Network's drive to reach out to those suffering from cancer will continue and get stronger. We hope people will carry on with their fight against cancer along with those who have been suffering from the disease.
